| Tourism - a major boost for the South African
economy. The number of overseas foreign arrivals to South Africa increased by 4,4% to 726 698 in the first half of 2000. Including African visitors in foreign arrivals pushes the number to 2,8 million. Revenue generated for South Africa from foreign tourism amounted to an estimated R7,1 billion (an increase of R1,1 billion).
